Before reviewing our sensor installation information, keep in mind the purpose of using the Vnet (Canbus) method of attaching sensors to the G2X

1. Can I install my own sensor? Yes, the Vnet (Canbus) allows the user to connect their own 0-5V or 0-12V input to the G2X. This is accomplished by use of a generic 0-5V or 0-12V Racepak module, which costs $99.00 each.

2. Why not route individual wires to each sensor? Our method uses a single cable to route the data from all sensors, back to the G2X, resulting in a much cleaner installation.

3. What does this mean to the user?
Less weight: Since all the sensors share the same cable, it requires less total wiring to complete the installation
Smart sensors: The Vnet (Canbus) allows Racepak to create sensors that "know" what they are, eliminating calibration and setup procedures.
Easier to install: Routing one cable throughout the vehicle is much easier than dragging rolls of wire throughout the vehicle.
Cost: When reviewing the cost of our Vnet sensors, remember the high quality of sensors untilized by Racepak affects the final cost.

The addition of sensors and gauges to the G2X Kit is a quick and easy process. Before determining what sensors and gauges to add, take a quick look at the technology of the
Vnet smart sensor system.

Adding a Single Sensor to the G2X Kit

Connect the AUX to Vnet cable to the AUX port of the G2X   Install the Sensor / Vnet Module in the desired location Connect the Vent Module to the AUX to Vnet cable. Connect the Terminator Cap / Male to the female port of the Vnet Module.
 

Adding Multiple Sensors to the G2X Kit

Install the sensors / Vnet modules in the desired locations and connect the multiple Vnet modules together, utilizing the male to female connectors found on each Vnet Module.   Connect the multiple Vnet Modules to the AUX to Vnet Cable. The Terminator Cap / Male must always be installed on the last Vnet Module, as shown below or in the Step 3 photo.   In the event that sensors are mounted in locations that do not allows for direct Vnet module to Vnet module connection, any variation of Vnet extension cables may be utilized, in order to connect to the AUX to Vnet cable.
   

Vnet Sensor, Module and Cable Installation Tips

Vnet Sensors and Modules

  1. Each sensor is connected to the corresponding Vnet module via a 48” cable
  2. Vnet modules / sensors may be connected to the AUX to Vnet cable in any order.
  3. Generic 0-5Volt Vnet modules are available for customer supplied 0-5V sensors.
  4. Each Vnet module / sensor arrives with instructions regarding required software updates. View Example
  5. Any combination of 12 total sensors/gauges may be connected to the G2X.
  6. The Vnet Module and sensor at the further most point from the G2X must be capped with a Vnet Terminator Cap Male.

Vnet Extension Cables:

  1. Vnet extension cables are available in lengths starting at 12” through 216”
  2. Each cable contains one male and one female connector
  3. The use of a Vnet bulkhead connector 280-CA-VM-BHEAD is required when passing the Vnet cable through any type of panel. This eliminates the likelihood of cut cable
